Find your own style of leadership. It’s great to learn from those around you and to emulate the aspects you respect. But ultimately you will need to find your own authentic style of leadership. When I first secured my “seat at the table,” I felt inclined to project extreme confidence, seriousness, and bring an air of authority. This didn’t work for me — it felt unnatural and came across as awkward and rigid. I later switched gears and decided to bring myself to the table. I now not only feel more confident and comfortable, but I add more value by bringing the levity and empathy I naturally lead with.
